Artist Garthwaite Speaks Fri., 9/30 at noon

Gift to Fairfield University Campus Art Collection to be displayed at DiMenna-Nyselius Library

On Friday, September 30, 2011, at noon, local Connecticut artist Ernest Garthwaite – whose show garnered wonderful reviews when it opened at the Thomas J. Walsh Art Gallery in the spring of 2009 -- will be acknowledged for his recent gift to the Fairfield University Campus Art Collection. The event will take place in the Multimedia Room of the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, close in proximity to where the art work will remain on view. After a brief acknowledgment, there will be a short conversation with the artist about the purpose and meaning of his painting Surf VII: Elegy to the Waters of the Earth – one of Garthwaite’s many paintings dedicated as an emblematic banner of our “shared concern” for the waters of the earth.

This event is free and open to all members of the University community.
