What is a book? Information, recreation, an artifact, a work of art? Fairfield University students considered this question to explore the nature of text and image by utilizing discarded library books to create original artworks that challenge our view of family, politics, and identity. These unique book objects on view at the Library and on Wednesday, October 26th at 5pm the students will discuss their work in the Library Multimedia Room. All are welcome to attend. Books Arts: Investigating Text & Image will be on display in the Library until December 20, 2016.
Earlier in the day, mixed-media artist, Doug Beube, will speak about his art and working methods at Bannow Science Center (Room 256) from 11:00-1:30pm. Beube also teaches classes in artist's books, mixed-media, and photography. He exhibits both nationally and internationally, and his bookworks and photographs are in numerous private and public collections, including the Brooklyn Museum of Art and New York's Museum of Modern Art.
