David Foster Wallace, 1962-2008

Sad news struck the literary world Friday with the announcement of the death of writer David Foster Wallace of an apparent suicide. Described by New York Times critic Michiko Kakutani as a "prose magician," Wallace authored 10 books of fiction and non-fiction, including his 1996 novel Infinite Jest, which is included in Time Magazines list of 100 Greatest English Novels.  He was the recipient of the 1997 MacArthur Foundation "Genius Grant."
