Congratulations to our librarians who won one of the 2016 President's Innovation Awards on September 27, 2016. These librarians, Matt Bernstein, Barbara Ghilardi, Robert Hoyt, Jackie Kremer, and Witt Meesangnil, were recognized for their work on creating new open source Academic Integrity Tutorials.

This project represents a total redesign of the previous plagiarism avoidance tutorial, given in the past to students in the FYE program and ESL Engineering classes. This new academic integrity tutorial goes beyond avoiding plagiarism, focusing more on academic honesty and integrity as fundamental to, and an inherent part of, a Jesuit education, in which teaching and learning are based on mutual respect.

The librarians said, "one of our goals in applying for this Innovation Award is to encourage conversation about using open source resources, including code, textbooks, and educational resources. We want to encourage academic divisions and administrative departments to investigate open source to leverage best practices in their fields and save staff time and financial resources."
