‘Ron’s Big Mission’ Read Aloud Video

In celebration of Black History month, the Fairfield University Writing Center, in partnership with Fairfield University's chapter of the Black Student Union and the National Society of Black Engineers, presents a reading of the picture book Ron's Big Mission.

Ron’s Big Mission tells the tale of an important moment in the early life of Black physicist and NASA astronaut Ron McNair, when nine-year-old Ron stood up for his right to check out a book from his segregated South Carolina town public library in 1959. This act of courage and resistance in the pursuit of learning and education shaped the rest of Ron’s successful life.

This children's picture book is written by Rose Blue and Corinne Naden, and illustrated by Don Tate.
