Students fight for publishing rights

Professors and students in universities across the country have raised concerns that the online availability of student work might hamper future publishing potential.  This fall, West Virginia University will require creative writing students to submit their thesis online, and force it to be publicly available after 5 years.  Will this affect their ability to get their work published?

Students at the University of Iowa and Bowling Green State have successfully campaigned to keep the rights to publication of their theses.
