The 2012 Ithaka S+R US Faculty Atitudes Survey provides insight into the evolving attitudes and practices of faculty members in the swiftly changing environment of research.
For example, 70 percent of respondents said they had used E-books of digital scholarly monographs in the past half-year. But more than 80 percent said they still found it easier to read an entire book in print than in a digital format.
About 40 percent agreed strongly that "e-collections could comfortably replace print journal collections in academic libraries" with 50% of scientists and social scientists agreeing.
