All Love: An LGTBQ Film Series
In celebration of LGBTQ History Month, Fairfield University presents a series dedicated to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) experiences through film on three consecutive Tuesdays in October. All films are free and open to the general public. Light refreshments will be served and all screenings will take place in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library Multimedia Auditorium on the lower level of the library. These films are First Year Experience (FYE) approved events.
American Experience: Stonewall Uprising - Tuesday, October 25 at 7 p.m.
A first-person account of the riots that launched the modern-day LGBTQ civil rights movement. The power in Stonewall Uprising comes from not only the young people involved, but the policeman who was the leader of the raid. Filmmakers Kate Davis and David Heilbroner spend the first half of the film reminding us of the way society viewed homosexuality in the late 1960's. Once those facts are established clearly, then the real beauty of the film emerges. There is so much detail and personal narrative; a tribute to the many heroes who are still alive to tell their story.
